Galveston Bay - Chambers, TX Fishing Report on 26th Mar, 2026

Inshore & Marsh (Redfish & Trout) Action: High. Redfish and trout are active in shallow back lakes, marsh drains, and windward shorelines. Lures/Baits: Salt and pepper or chartreuse paddle tails, flukes, and imitation shrimp under popping corks with 12-18 inch leaders. Hotspots: East Galveston Bay, shallow marsh lakes, and drains For the week of March 25, 2026, Galveston fishing is "on fire" inshore, with excellent catches of redfish, speckled trout, black drum, and sheepshead, especially in East Bay and near the jetties. Water temperatures are in the upper 60s to low 70s, making for active fishing with soft plastics or shrimp under popping corks in 6-18 inches of water.

Galveston Bay - Chambers, TX Fishing Report on 9th Mar, 2026

Fishing conditions in Galveston Bay for the week of March 9, 2026, are generally good, with warming water temperatures (averaging 68–70°F) and extremely good water clarity. Anglers are successfully targeting speckled trout and redfish, particularly in East Galveston Bay and near the jetties. East Galveston Bay Speckled Trout: The bite is strong, especially when using salt and pepper or chartreuse paddle tails on 1/8 oz jig heads. Higher tides are allowing access to back lake flats close to drains. Redfish: Action is steady in the Crystal Beach marsh and around shallow backwater drains. Best results are coming from imitation shrimp lures under popping corks with 12–18 inch leaders. West Galveston Bay & Jetties Wading & Grass Lines: Solid speckled trout are being caught by wading shallow water along grass shorelines. Galveston Jetties: This is the time of year when the jetties begin to excel. Anglers are finding sheepshead and black drum on live shrimp or cracked crab, with some slot redfish and trout mixed in. Trinity Bay: In the northern end, the bite is good for trout and redfish over shell reefs, primarily using artificial lures.

Techniques: Target falling tides, specifically focusing on drains, drop-offs, and shallow water. Baits: Live shrimp is the top choice for mixed catches. Use 1/4 oz jigheads with white/chartreuse paddle tails or suspending hard baits for trout. Conditions: Water is off-colored due to wind, with low tide levels.

Based on early February 2026 reports, fishing around Galveston, including for flounder, is active, with favorable conditions for both boat and shore angling. Conditions: Water temperatures are in the upper 50s to low 60s Fahrenheit, with some low tides and occasional foggy conditions. Flounder Activity: Flounder are being caught in the back bays and along the Intracoastal Waterway. While some reports indicate fewer "keeper" size fish in certain areas with many smaller males, others show consistent catches, particularly when using live bait like finger mullet or shrimp. Hot Spots: The Galveston Jetties, back bays, and shallow marshes are productive, with action often found in deep, muddy areas. Techniques: Using live shrimp or mullet on a Carolina rig is highly effective. Artificial, such as Gulp baits, are also working well. Other Species: Along with flounder, anglers are catching significant numbers of sheepshead, black drum, redfish, and speckled trout.
